Safe Unfollow Tracker is a free iOS app with no in-app purchases. It works with the data export Instagram provides, and everything stays on your device.

Getting your data from Instagram

The app never logs in to Instagram. Instead, you request your own data export and import it.

  1. In Instagram, go to Accounts Center › Download your information.
  2. Select only Followers and following, and leave every other category unchecked.
  3. Choose JSON as the format.
  4. Download the ZIP file once Instagram makes it available.
  5. Import the ZIP into Safe Unfollow Tracker. The app also accepts an unzipped folder or loose JSON files.

Whether you import a ZIP file, an unzipped folder or loose JSON files, the app reads the export on your device, extracts the usernames and does not keep a copy of the original files. Each import is kept as a snapshot, so you can see changes over time.

Choose JSON, not HTML

The app cannot read HTML exports. If your export is in HTML, request a new one from Instagram and choose JSON as the format.

Deleting your data

To delete everything, open the History tab, tap the trash button and choose Delete all data. This removes all data the app has stored for your imports, including which profiles you have opened in the app. Deleting the app also removes all of its data from your device. Nothing is stored anywhere else.
